Be Human Evolve & Grow Joy

Every year…

Every year this seems to happen. There’s a season when there are too many things to do. There are not enough hours in the day to do them. So I let some slide into a messy puddle off to the side.

This season I’m making slightly different choices. I’m prioritizing my health, time with family, taking care of the kids. I’m not blogging as consistently as I want to. I’m letting go of other things too. It makes room for the things I am focusing on.

I could make different choices.

And yet, I’m not. By saying “yes” to certain things I have to say “no” to others. And I hate (HATE) saying “no” to things I love to do… like writing this blog. There are other things I’m putting in virtual boxes right now, other things I also love, but this season in my life does not allow room for all – ALL – the things. So I have to choose. Some “things” have to go into boxes, to be unpacked or donated later.

Boxing up my “things”… so I can unpack them later (or maybe donate them).

If I were my own best friend I would embrace the things I’m saying “yes” to and grieve the things I’m saying “no” to. I want to do it all, but can’t. Anyone who says they can do it all is lying – or they’ve figured out what “all” means to them and they’re doing all of their chosen things. But no one can do ALL the things. It’s not possible.

That’s part of what this experiment is about – figuring out what my “all” is and focusing in on it. I can’t imagine a life without this little blog, so I plan to be back.

I’ll return in September. More reflections on life. More reflections on how to be my own best friend. More stories about how I’m learning, growing, failing. Two steps forward, one step back. Taking a blog-break is one step back. Yet, it’s the right thing for right now. Until we meet again!

In health, Rachel

Well done, Rachel – this is tough… Though I wonder if reframing it as a pause rather than a backward step might be more healthy (and more human). Go gently and enjoy this season to the full. Cheering you on from over here 🌿

Thank you, Rachel, for the reminder. I only an hour ago had the realization that I MUST narrow my priorities and devote my time accordingly with my health being #1. It is what I would advise others. Enjoy your blog break! We will still be here when you get back. ☺️
