If I were my own best friend I would reflect on a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. …
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
— Martin Luther King, Jr.
***I have loved this quote for a long time. It reminds me that you do not really know who someone is when they are sitting on their couch, sipping wine, watching TV. Instead, pay attention to what happens when the couch they are sitting on falls through the floor into the sewer, the wine causes some wacky transformation where they grow horns out of their ears and start barking like a dog, and the TV show was a thriller that is suddenly taking place in their home. Yes, I know, completely ridiculous.
The point is that the moments that challenge and push us are also the moments that define us.
Thank you Martin Luther King, Jr – your light lives on.
