If I were my own best friend I would remind myself to…
Commit to your goals.
***I have some really big goals right now. BIG ones. The kind that I have thought about and looked at from different angles and researched and thought some more about. And mulled over for a bit. And walked away from. And come back to and thought some more about. And looked at some more options. And here’s what I realized…
I never get closer to completing those goals. I’ve done a lot of thinking and planning and preparing for these goals. And all of that is good. But I have realized there is a point where I have to commit if I actually want to achieve these goals.
That is what this post is about. Sometimes, with some goals, the only way to get there is to take a leap and make the commitment. It can be scary.
I think about standing on the edge of a cliff looking out over the water. There is the edge where you are still on solid ground and then there is the moment after you have jumped off the edge and you are in the air. Your stomach is somewhere up in your throat and you are free-falling and you might even be screaming something like “holy moly what did I just do I wanna go back right now aieeeeeee.” That’s the moment of commitment.
Have you taken any leaps yet this new year? Are you on the edge contemplating any?
What a great and apropos post! I have felt this way many times when I’ve decided to ‘go’ for something. Schooling, starting my business, sending out marketing posts, and leaving relationships that I wished had worked out differently. Now I’m about to come out with my first book and boy is that stepping off a cliff! Thanks for the very palpable illustration and description of the feelings….
Thank you so much for your kind comment. How exciting to be releasing your first book! Please keep me posted, I would love to be able to share the news.
